 by Steve Jurmu owner FunInMB.com

The Myrtle Beach Marathon 2008 is almost here, in fact it is this weekend. The 26k run is full but there are still registrations available for the 5k and the bike rides. You can fax applications to 843.712.2621 or just register yourself at the expo.  Register here.

  • The BI-LO Myrtle Beach Marathon will start the intersection of Grissom Parkway and 21st Ave. N, Myrtle Beach, SC.
  • The Finish Line will be in the parking lot of Coastal Federal Field.
  • Click here to see a map of the Start and Finish locations.
Good luck to all those who will be participating in the marathon this year and those in the 5k run and bike ride.  We will try to be at various locations throughout the marathon to take some pictures and video for our website, so look for them soon after the marathon.

30 mile I-73 section gets ok in South Carolina

by Steve Jurmu Owner Funinmb.com

There has been federal approval to begin construction on the 30 mile stretch of road between SC 22 and I-95. Now the SC DOT can begin buying land roughly 60 pieces that are in the path of I-73. The interstate will start north in Michigan in the city of Sault Ste. Marie and travel through Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina. There are areas where the road has already been built or is in the process of being constructed in North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. Ohio and Michigan have no currect progress. I myself can't wait for this interstate to be totally finished as I am from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (Houghton County), it would make my travel by car that much easier and faster.

The Myrtle Beach area needs this route to be completed very fast as the city of Myrtle Beach and surrounding communities are growing very rapidly. With US 501 being the major route into Myrtle Beach it is very congested and sometimes takes hours to get into or out of the city.
